THE STUDENTS OF MESROBIAN ARE INTRODUCED TO THE HISTORY OF ARTSAKH STRUGGLE

Upon the wish of the School’s 7th and 8th grade students, an informative event about the Artsakh liberation struggle took place at Mesrobian High School on March 15.

After the hymn of Artsakh and the opening speech, Mr. Vartan Tashjian, head of the School’s Information Department and former officer in the Artsakh Army, presented the war situation in Artsakh during the years 1990-1994. Mr. Tashjian stressed that the unshakable will of Artsakh people to reunite with Armenia, their courage and firmness, their ingenuity and willingness to sacrifice have been the most important factors of achieved victories. He highlighted that the objective of the Armenian people remains the same: the legitimate incorporation of Artsakh into Armenia, for which thousands of young men and their volunteer fellow comrades-in-arms from the Diaspora have sacrificed their lives. Afterwards, the students addressed many questions to the speaker to understand a wide range of issues related to the war situation. V. Tashjian advised the students to follow up regularly on the events of Armenian life since knowledge and awareness are very important in being shaped as an Armenian.

Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, in his words, appreciated the students’ interest towards the Artsakh Struggle and the Armenian issues, mentioning that the Armenian student has clear responsibilities in the struggle that the Armenian people is fighting to reacquire their rights. First of all, the responsibility of the Armenian students consists in assimilating perfectly the Armenian language, literature and history and feeling always ready to become involved in the activities of the Armenian Cause and the demand.

The students listened to Armenian patriotic songs and watched a documentary about the Artsakh War.
