MESROBIAN SCHOOL’S ‘’SHOUSHI’’ DANCE GROUP PRESENTED 2 PERFOMANCES

On June 1 and 2, 2019, the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School concluded the series of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the school's foundation with 2 dance performances by ‘’Shoushi’’ Dance Group. The performances were held at "Hovhannes Boghossian" Theater Hall in Bourj Hammoud, with the presence of numerous parents, friends and guests.

Dance Instructors Mrs. Sarine Artinian Demirjian and Mr. Avo Karakeshishian noted in their opening speeches that dance is one of the most important art forms in the world that comprises the history of a nation, its past and present, its dreams and aspirations. Consequently, it has a significant role in the identity shaping of generations. They expressed their gratitude to Mesrobian’s administration for its commitment to the Armenian dance and its full support towards their work.

Four subgroups of "Shushi" dance group, kids, tweens, adolescents and former students, performed 19 dances representing the treasury of different nations - Armenian, Arabic, Russian, Indian, and European, as well as joke dances. Certainly, the dominant was the Armenian dance, both in traditional and contemporary presentations. Overall, 77 dancers performed on the stage and managed to grant memorable moments of artistic enjoyment to the audience.

The dance group's performances were characterized by interesting choreographs, refined taste in stage, costumes and music, as well as the enthusiasm of the dancers and the well-prepared performances.

Mesrobian’s Principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust delivered the closing speech, in which he expressed his gratitude to the dance instructors of the "Shoushi" Dance Group for their work done with dedication and love and the outcome that is more than satisfactory. He also appreciated the work of all the members of the dance group, their parents and the administrative assistants in this achievement, at the same time commemorating the founder dance instructor of the dance group, Harout Karajian.

Mr. Gregoire Kaloust said that preserving and disseminating the memory of national art by the new generation is an educational, and national mission, pursued by Mesrobian School. He stressed that Mesrobian would make every effort to ensure the dance group's performances on prestigious stages and festivals.
