On Thursday, July 23, 2020, Mesrobian Technical College handed out diplomas to its 2019-2020 graduating class, under the extraordinary conditions imposed by the Covid-19. Unlike the traditional public celebration taking place annually, this year exceptionally, only the graduates' close family members and the school’s teaching-administrative personnel attended the ceremony. The ceremony, which took place in Mesrobian’s courtyard, in front of Saint Mesrob monument, was presided by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Armenian Catholic Patriarchal Schools, Monsignor Kapriel Mouradian and attended by Father Khatchig Koyoumjian, auxiliary parish priest of Saint Savior Church.

The ceremony began with the anthems of Lebanon, Armenia and Mesrobian. Afterward, Mesrobian’s Principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust delivered the opening speech, in which he stated that this school year went by under the unfavorable conditions imposed by Covid-19 and the country’s socio-economic situation, but the 38-year-old Technical College is now handing diplomas to its 29 graduates, who are well prepared to start life and pursue higher education. The principal expressed his respect for the parents of the students, who made many sacrifices and trusted their children to the Armenian school. He also expressed gratitude and thanked the Armenian Catholic Church, in the persons of the patriarch and clergymen, which supported Mesrobian in the unhampered pursuit of its mission. Mr. Kaloust called the students to remain loyal to their Armenian, Christian and Lebanese identities and to keep Mesrobian’s reputation high in all cases. At the end of the speech, Mr. Kaloust awarded special certificates to the students who have achieved the highest grades in the three specialties of B.T. Class.

Mr. Joe Telessemian delivered a speech on behalf of the teaching staff. He pointed out that the graduation ceremony marks the closing of a phase, but at the same time it marks the opening of a new one for students. Mr. Tlesemian called the graduates to continue the path of education and learning, not to give up in the face of difficulties and possible failures, and to cling to human values, without which all success is deceiving. He concluded his speech by appreciating the spirit of solidarity of fellow teachers and thanking the school's principal, Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, for leading the educational work.

Anita Keosseyan and Aram Daghlian (in Armenian), and Leticia Hekimian and Meghry Gemijian (English) delivered speeches on behalf the graduates and expressed their gratitude to the school’s administration, teaching staff and parents, confirming that they will carry the values learned in Mesrobian in the education field or elsewhere. Sona Keshishian pronounced heartfelt words.

The graduates presented an artistic program: Aram Daghlian (music; Dhol), Kevork Demirjian (song; ‘’Mayr Dznoghin’’), Meghry Gemijian (solo dance), Leticia Hekimian (song; “Flashlight’’), Leticia Hekimian and Kevork Demirjian (duet; ‘’Imagine’’). In the end, the graduates sang “Vertchin Zanke’’.

At the end of the ceremony, diplomas were awarded to the 26 students of B.T. Class in the specialties of Accounting and Computer Science, Hotel Management and Pedagogy and to the 3 students of T.S. Class in the specialty of Pedagogy.
