On September 11, 2020, the general meeting of Mesrobian High School’s teaching staff to discuss the beginning of the 2020-2021 academic year took place.
Before starting the meeting, the participants stood for a moment of silence in memory of Jessica Bezjian, a graduate of the school, who died 40 days ago due to Beirut Port explosion, while performing her professional duties at Al-Roum Hospital. For her memory and on the occasion of the opening of this meeting, Father Khatchik Kouyoumjian, auxiliary parish priest of Saint Savior Church, recited a prayer, after which Mesrobian’s Principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust delivered a speech.
Mr. Kaloust made a quick assessment of the previous extraordinary year, noting that during that time the school teachers acquired online learning skills, the further development of which will allow them to be much more effective in the coming school year. He hoped that the teachers will maintain their strength and faith in the current difficult conditions to meet the educational needs of students who are also going through a difficult and alarming period.
Mr. Kaloust informed that the return for intermediate and secondary classes will be preceded by a two-week preparatory period, during which students will be given online revision homework. At the end of that period, on September 28, the school will start operating with all its departments, in accordance with the rules established by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and the ones imposed by the Covid-19, which aim for both classroom and online learning systems. The principal stressed that it is necessary to maintain a safe situation in Mesrobian, for which the staff members’ full cooperation, discipline, mutual understanding and caring attention towards each other and towards students are essential.
After the meeting, the teachers of each department held separate meetings to discuss in more detail issues related to the activities of the new year.
