A group of students from the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School led by the school’s chaplain, Rev. Father Raffi Hovannessian, visited the headquarters of the Lebanese ‘Justice and Mercy’ organization to learn about its activity which is dedicated to the protection of human rights in general and the rights of prisoners in particular. The initiative took place within the framework of a forty-day spiritual education program.

The meeting began with a greeting from Aita Nasrallah, one of the leaders of the organization, who presented the services provided by the center in the areas of health and psychological care to the all the prisoners in Rumieh and especially the adolescents. She also spoke about the organization's shelter which houses former prisoners to help them to get reintegrated into society.

A former prisoner then told Mesrobian's students his own life story and the causes of his incarceration. He mentioned the unbearable living conditions and the suffering of the prisoners there due to the overcrowding of Lebanese prisons.

At the end of the visit, a dialogue opened the space to the students to get answers to their questions after which Father Raffi concluded the meeting with a prayer, emphasizing the importance of mercy in the spiritual development of the individual and of the society as well.
