On Thursday, December 2, Mr. Samir Costantine, the Director of Waznat Consulting, met the teachers and the staff of Mesrobian Technical College in a workshop about bullying.
With his peaceful presence and positive outlook on life, Mr. Costantine reviewed with the attendees many comments that are often addressed to students by their teachers, alerting them of their undesirable behavior in class and during a lesson, in an attempt to correct it.
Then Mr. Costantine dragged the attention of the audience to the negative connotations that such comments might have and their negative impact on the psyche of students, regardless of the reason why these comments were formulated. He added that, since the mission of educators is to be facilitators of learning, it is essential to be aware of the words that they use when addressing their students and to always encourage them to see the goodness they have inside and to utilize their potential learning ability the best way possible by using encouraging words and letting students know that their teachers are here to help them learn despite any difficulty they might encounter with love, compassion and patience.
This workshop came was an invitation to the participants for sincere introspection and self-assessment to discover the root of any negative comment that might arise from any teacher towards students and to gain awareness of that process in order to shift to positive and motivating speech or behavior which will produce better results when received by students.
We thank Mr. Costantine for this inspiring workshop and wish to meet him again soon.
