As was reported previously, Ms. Christine Vosgorian, head of the library of the secondary department of the Mesrobian High School, had organized an educational competition for the students during the month of December which lasted for twenty days. Students answered daily questions concerning Christmas and the New Year, which helped them gain new knowledge about traditions and historical facts related to these holidays.
In a second event, the students were offered wrapped books from the library that they should open during the Christmas holiday, just as children receive gifts on New Year's Eve. This way, the students were granted a surprise that would encourage them to read and find their preferences regarding the types of books and literary genres.
On January 19th, the awarding of the students who were recognized as winners in the above-mentioned competition took place in the Hovhannes Farajian auditorium of Mesrobian College.
On this occasion, the Principal of the school, Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, expressed his gratitude to Miss Vosgorian who regularly organizes educational events for students, mainly to promote students' interest in books, reading and general development.
The Principal greatly emphasized the role of reading in the mental and psychological development of the students and called on them to give the book a worthy place and meaning in their daily life, to acquire different types of knowledge and to expand their inner world with the horizons opened by literature.
